October's Golden Remembrances
This month's book release taps into fond memories of my hardwood court days playing basketball in high school and college. When I add my mother's playing days at her nursing school in the 1950's, that lends my character, Indigo Ownley, a solid heritage in the sport. Too bad it doesn't prepare her for Shae Swain, a star center from the NBA who chooses her nonprofit after school program as the location to serve out his mandatory community service for an on-court mishap. One glimpse at her player poster in the mop closet tips off Shae to the object of his unrequited college crush. When he delves to find out what happened to a note declaring his romantic interest, the spark rekindles, leading Indigo to reevaluate the distance between them. They'd do well to use care in navigating the swamp, because in coastal North Carolina-- there's always a swamp to respect.
